Dear Ellington Families,
Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year! We are looking forward to welcoming both new and returning families to the building this August. As you know, the first day of school starts on August 29th, and we have been hard at work planning for this upcoming school year to ensure students have an exciting and meaningful year.
To our new Ellington families…WELCOME! We are confident that you will find our Ellington community one that you will enjoy for years to come.
To our returning Ellington families…WELCOME BACK! Thank you for your continued support during such transformative years for your student.
We have a school year full of exciting events and performances. The first event is our 2022 Summer Bridge Program for our new incoming students to learn more about the high school experience and the Ellington C.R.E.E.D!
DESA 2022 Summer Bridge: Date: August 8th – August 12th Time: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm Location: 3500 R Street NW, Washington DC 20007 Entrance/Exit: 35th & R – Performance Hall Entrance
Rising 9th, 10th, and 11th graders (new students only) and school staff will get to know each other while building their shared understanding of high school and the DESA experience. Students will enjoy a variety of activities, such as team-building games, scavenger hunts to get to know their new school, creative projects, performances, and presentations about high school and beyond.

Important Health Updates: Per DCPS requirements, all DESA students must have a full course of a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine series in order to attend classes in SY22-23. Please be sure we have updated health/immunization records and dental forms ASAP, definitely before the first day of school. Those forms can be found here and once complete, should be emailed directly to dukeellingtonenroll@k12.dc.gov and copy delphenia.james.chn@k12.dc.gov.
