Academic Excellence at Duke Ellington School of the Arts

At no other time in recent educational history have academics been more scrutinized than at present, and here at Ellington, we believe this is an integral part of maintaining our goal to provide academic courses that met our rigorous standard toward college readiness.

Ranked as one of DC Public Schools’ highest performing high schools, Ellington encourages its students to take advance placement course load that includes Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, US History, World History, Language and Literature and World Language, as well as Honors academic courses. Ellington’s Academic block meets from 8:30am – 2:00pm to provide maximum focus as we delve into the curriculum using best practices to support our students’ efforts towards unlimited academic achievements. These efforts have produced a 98% on-time graduation rate, with an increasing percentage of college acceptances, annually.

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts is firmly committed to preparing its students for the demands of a changing global society, to give them the tools they need for success in their future educational, artistic and professional endeavors.
