I hope your week was filled with joy! We are immensely grateful for the commitment our students demonstrated in their academic studies and artistic endeavors. Our students are at the heart of our school and their contributions are what make Duke a truly exceptional place of learning and creativity.
This week, our students participated in the PSAT exams. We are proud of their efforts and look forward to supporting them as they continue their educational journey. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the dedicated staff and faculty members who helped facilitating the testing process. Thank you for all the hard work you put into making these testing days as productive as possible.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dave Chappelle and his team for being apart of our Day of Wellness on October 27. At Duke, we place a strong emphasis on the well-being and mental health of our students, faculty, and staff. Dave Chappelle and his team took the initiative to address our school community about the significance of wellness, and we are profoundly appreciative. Their unwavering commitment to this crucial cause has deeply touched our community, and we express our immense gratitude for their dedication.
Moreover, we would like to extend a special shoutout to Tracie Jenkins, a distinguished Duke alumna and the Executive Director of the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation (BLHF), for the launch of the Joy Joints initiative. This initiative was created to raise awareness about mental health, promote joy, and raise funds to bolster overall wellness. We applaud Tracie and BLHF for their commitment and the positive impact they continue to make in our community and beyond.
Furthermore, we are thankful to our dedicated team of staff and faculty for representing Duke Ellington at the Arts School Network. Their unwavering commitment to promoting the arts and nurturing creativity within our school shines as a beacon of excellence. Your participation in this network underscores our collective dedication to fostering artistic talent and educational excellence. PSAT Make-Up Exam Dates
PSAT make-up exams will take place for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders on October 30 and October 31.
DESA x Commanders Fundraiser

Picture Days
All students in grades 9-11, and all faculty/staff members will have their pictures taken on Thursday, November 9. A make-up day is scheduled for January 8.
Homecoming Dance
The Homecoming Dance will be on Friday, November 3, from 6:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. Please be advised that there will be no school for students but the dance will still take place.
Panorama Fall Survey
The Panorama Fall Survey has been sent and is now open for students. Teachers, please note that further information will be sent out next week so that you can take the survey.
