LMC Powers Award-Winning Short Film

1/5/2021: Congratulations to Ellington’s Literary Media & Communications department for being well represented on “Everlasting,” which received an Audience Choice Award at the 2020 Cannes Short Film Festival. The credits are sprinkled with current and former LMC faculty members (pictured), including Jami Ramberan (writer/director); Shom Shamapande and Kelli Anderson(producers); and Penny Hollis and Mark Moore (editors). A couple of former LMC parents – Paula and Floyd Godfrey – earned a “special thanks” mention. “Everlasting” delves into the world of social media obsession, with a tech-savvy boyfriend trying to to plan the perfect birthday for his girlfriend – in spite of her sister’s objections. In addition to the Cannes honor, the film also won the Award of Excellence at the Broadcast Education Association competition, and was an official selection in the Miami International Sci-Fi Film Festival, the Brooklyn Sci-Fi Film Festival, Urban Mediamakers Film Festival, and the University Film and Video Association.
