Greetings Ellington Community!

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. We are thrilled to take this opportunity to extend our warmest wishes to everyone as we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Hispanic Heritage Month is significant to us, as it provides a dedicated time to honor and acknowledge the rich cultural and diverse histories of Hispanic and Latino communities, fostering a better understanding and appreciation of their heritage.

We'd like to express our gratitude to the parents and students who joined us for Back to School Night! We highly value your attendance and continuous involvement in our school community. Your dedication to your child's education and your commitment to actively participating in their learning journey are deeply appreciated. Your support plays a vital role in fostering a positive and enriching educational experience for all of our students.

Thank you to the March on Washington Film Festival Team for giving our students the opportunity to participate in the special screening of "Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project." The documentary holds great significance as it offers an intimate glimpse into her life and work, allowing us to appreciate her profound impact on literature and social change. We want to extend a heartfelt gratitude to Isisara Bey and her dedicated team for graciously affording our students the opportunity to partake in this exceptional showing.

We want to take a moment to express gratitude for the incredible opportunity Mr. Larry Davis, our 11th and 12th-grade counselor, provided to the 12th-grade students by organizing college and university presentations from schools including Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Boston Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and many more!

The students wrapped up the week with the March on Washington Virtual Reality Salon! This Thursday and Friday, our students were privileged to interact with several accomplished artists who generously shared their projects. This two-day event left an unforgettable impact, offering our students a platform to explore and learn.

Please save the date: October 6, 2023, for our upcoming Visual Arts Department Faculty & Alumni Show & Auction.
