From the Principal's Desk 1/30/23

Greetings Ellington Community,

I hope all is well with you all. Audition Week for prospective students starts next week and it's time for us to SHINE! This year's audition model will be in person. In order to accommodate auditions, we're planning for a 3:15 p.m. early release the entire week of February 6 - February 10. (*Pending district approval)

If there are any hardships or issues with child-care coverage, please email our Director of Administrative Operations, Donna Hayden at Donna.Hayden@k12.dc.gov. Additionally, if any parents would like to volunteer to help with audition week, please reach out to our Admissions Associate, Kayla Roach at Kayla.Roach@k12.dc.gov

Although we celebrate Black History year-long at DESA, we're excited to share our Black History Month programming for February. Join us on February 17 for the Vocal Music Black History Month Celebration Concert. Next, on February

26, we have our second annual fashion show with Saks 5th Avenue. During the show, we will continue to celebrate Black History Month by highlighting Black artists and designers along with DESA students. We also have some exciting lunch pop-ups planned and we'll share more details starting next month!
