DERRICK W. BROWN

Biography

Derrick Weston Brown holds an MFA in Creative Writing from American University. He is a
founder of Busboys and Poets’ Poet-In-Residence, a graduate of Cave Canem, and a fellow of
Voices of Our Nations Foundation (VONA) summer workshops. Brown is a participating author
in the PEN-Faulkner Foundation’s Writers-In-Schools Program. His work has been published in
Racebaitr, Colorlines, and Bayou Magazine. Brown’s debut collection of poetry, Wisdom
Teeth was released in 2011 through PM Press. His second collection of poetry, a chapbook
entitled On All Fronts, was released bound with two artists’ collections in a series from Upper
Rubber Boot Press entitled Floodgates Vol.5.
