Term 3 Overview

Per DCPS guidelines and approval for reopening from the DC Department of Health and OSSE, Ellington has victoriously been approved to return our Arts departments, except Theatre and Vocal Music.


In Instrumental Music, students who play wind instruments also ARE NOT approved to return. All other IM students ARE approved to return.


The targeted group of students for Term 3 are based on high curriculum and programming needs for graduation requirements for the included departments. Scheduling is below:


· Mondays, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

o Instrumental Music: strings, percussion, music theory support

· Mondays, 2:35 p.m.- 5:20 p.m.

o LMC: juniors and seniors

· Tuesdays, 1 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.

o TDP: seniors

· Wednesdays

o Building closed for deep cleaning

· Thursdays, 1:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.

o Dance: sophomores, seniors

· Thursdays, 1 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.

o Museum Studies: juniors

· Fridays, 2:35 p.m.- 4:45 p.m.

o Visual Arts: seniors


Each Arts department meets in-person once a week and the other three days of weekly instruction will resume for our students virtually. Please note that in-person attendance for participating students is reflected in Canvas.

Classroom maximum occupancy is 11 students to one instructor. The numbers in each classroom will be determined by square footage and social distancing requirements. Please note as we approach Term 4, the opportunity for in-person learning will increase from 25% to 50% of our student population.


A limited number of seats are available for Term 3. Any families that wish to be included on the wait list for Term 3 or Term 4 should send an email to Director of Student & Parent Engagement Jay Walker at james.walker4@k12.dc.gov and copy our Reopen Strong office at reopenstrong@ellingtonarts.org.
